What could he possibly have to hide? I'm just saying. It's totally irrelevant where he's from.

I fished most of my childhood from the bank with a bobber, a small splitshot, and a small to medium hook below it with a nightcrawler on the hook. The other way i would fish is with a weight tied to the end of my line with a hook a foot or two above it with a nightcrawler, chicken liver, or shrimp on the hook for catfish. Just throw it in the water and let it hit the bottom, reel the slack line in until it's tight, prop your pole up with a stick or something and wait for the tip to start bending. I would use a 1/2 ounce weight for this in a lake. I would take 1 or 2 poles to fish on the bottom while you're fishing with a bobber on top of the water. There are many other variations for bottom fishing, but this is easiest to explain for a beginner.

Good luck.

This site is like a local community. If someone new comes in, everyone likes to feel them out and get to know them. That's what's so nice about this site. I look forward to getting home and checking out whats been posted.

Sorry for being so cautious, I have been a member in other forums where someone from another country would join so that they can try to hack others computers or gain trust and try to rip members off. I hope that you are sincere and that you are not that type of person. So welcome to the site but I am going to pass on the invitation.

Even if I didn't share this thing about me, it is personal thing.

Thank you very much for your help
Thank you that is all I wanted, no harm done. But really why would someone want to track you?

That does happen on forums, and its happened here. So, if anything inappropriate gets posted, or if anyone gets questionable PM from any member, let me know by PM and it will be dealt with immediately. Likewise, I keep a close watch on the IP addresses of new members to weed out spammers, and I will ban people registering from questionable places without hesitation.

But unless someone posts something inappropriate, "you don't sound like you're from around here" won't be sufficient reason to make someone unwelcome. When TK and I need help policing the forum, we will ask.

Id like this to be the final word on that topic on the forum. If anyone needs to discuss further, PM me and we will talk about it off the forum.

Thanks.

Bd and Tk. This site is the absolute best that I myself and many others have found as far as for local fisherman. A big thumbs up for yall!

Question...... what are your thoughts for a website get together/tournament? Maybe at a local park where we can grill and all meet and greet and have a good time?

I think a "gathering" would be a great idea. Get to know all the great folks on this site in person.

bd has pretty much covered this but As far as spammers and new members go we know IP addresses and Datelines from which they were originated ... I ban at least one a day ...

And yes everyone should be cautious about giving out tracking information ...

Newbie filled out his profile, which I read .... (not verified).

By the way 90% of the new members don't fill out the profile and get automatically banned ...

As far as a tourney ... sounds like fun and I think everyone would like to meet everyone else ... You will need an organizer and some helpers .. NOTE: FishingTN.com cannot be a formal sponsor for this type of event do to liability reasons ... but it can be used as the communication avenue.... <'TK><

I really appreciate your detailed post. I need that kind of beginner tips. I will try this in my next trip.
What's the diffrerence between splitshot and weight? I thought they are the same!

I thought you meant the location that I have posted.
That will be good for me, cause I can investigate you guys, and learn from you.
