I don't really have a preference. The tech in rods even sub $100 is far better than it used to be. If fishing was my means for income then I'd want some light weight top notch equipment but since I am a weekender what ever fits the budget/application works just fine.

I'm right there with ya. I have a veritas Rod, and a st. Croix mojo bass Rod, both when bought were $100+ rods. But I didn't buy them, they were gifts. The most expensive Rod I've purchased is my bps crankin stick. It was $100 bill and now they're $60-80...dammit!! Lol

For the money I just feel like a good all around rod for the price and weekend angler is the lightning rod.

Same here.

I have a 7' Med/Hvy and it handles Caney Striper just fine.

I do want to try the 7' Med version though in the future for my general bass needs. Right now I am using American Series rods (The old Bill Dance Tourney Line) Those rods at 6'6" Med Hvy rated to I think 1oz will wing a spinnerbait.

is that a casting or spinning rod?
i need a little beefier rod to throw cranks. i have (2) 7'-6" bass pro cranking sticks (the ones where the rod slides into the handle to shorten it up for stowing) and i love the rods, but they have just a little too much tip for my liking on cranks.
but they are superior for launching spooks and rattle baits a country mile! lol

It is the casting version. I had an older version of the BP rod you are talking about in a Pro Qualifier. This rod is much lighter and cast better than the BP rod I had.

It casts 3/4 to 1oz baits really well.

I really like all pro rods. Especially the apx worm rod. Bought a blaster for big crank baits and have not got to use it yet.have a couple of the old all star rods that are nice also. May be looking to buy a new jig rod.

Voted other. I love my Cashion rods for anything on the bottom. Very sensitive rods

X2 on the lighting rods, I am a fan of the AllStar line also. I mainly am catching larger trout and striper with these, rarely bass fishing. As far as lightweight rods TM series and Fenwick suit my needs and budget.

Bass pro Carbon lite to me are the best bang for your buck. Love those rods! Super light, super sensitive.
