I don't really have a preference. The tech in rods even sub $100 is far better than it used to be. If fishing was my means for income then I'd want some light weight top notch equipment but since I am a weekender what ever fits the budget/application works just fine.

I'm right there with ya. I have a veritas Rod, and a st. Croix mojo bass Rod, both when bought were $100+ rods. But I didn't buy them, they were gifts. The most expensive Rod I've purchased is my bps crankin stick. It was $100 bill and now they're $60-80...dammit!! Lol
For the money I just feel like a good all around rod for the price and weekend angler is the lightning rod.
