Default Fine sanding for flakes and buffing for new shine

I like this post as I fish with an 89 BMC so let us know how everything comes out and Pics please.

Thats what i was going to suggest. Buffing it out. Two things come into play for that process: 1) buffer speed/motion 2) metal flake.

1) You can burn the clear/paint easy with a buffer if not careful.

2) if the clearcoat has worn down to where you can feel the flakes rubbing your hand across you are in for more work than just buffing. You will need to get it to a point where you can add more layers of clear back on top then buff out.

If its still smooth just discolored then it will buff out using the right compound.

I don't know what cost if to buy all the stuff and do it yourself but I know a guy in Shelbyville that does fiberglass and gelcoat repair. Everything I have seen from him looks great. If I don't buy another boat I am going to have him refinish mine.

Buffing Works!
This is a picture of my 89 2 years ago but now it's starting to fade again on the top surfaces so it needs buffed in those areas again.


The last owner had a garage I do not so fade will creep up on me slowly.
