Yes his name is Mike Cole that owned marine electric service and they did buy him out but he still works for them about 3 days a week.
I had a similar problem with my 36 volt 112lb thrust terrova ipilot and I ran 6 gauge wire from my breaker to the board on the trolling motor and it fixed my problem.

I was thinking this is my problem. I have a bassboat with the Terrova 101# thrust that is wired w/6 gauge wire and have never had a problem with it

I may try running 6 gauge temporary wiring just to try and see if that is my problem. 8 gauge looks sooo skimpy!
