Default Trout Magnet question

Actually it is more of a float question than the trout magnet itself.

I understand, somewhat, the theory behind their floats that have the split all the way down the side of them.

I seem to lose alot of floats when I catch fish though.
The larger the fish the more often I lose my float.

I feed the line through the black piece then through the float.
When I set my depth I then wrap the line around the black piece and insert it into the float.

When the line pulls "off" the black piece the float then comes off the line through that split in it.

Am I doing something wrong or is this just the nature of the beast so to speak?

It's not a BIG deal, as I can order the bulk pack any time but just curious if I could do something different in my set-up to help stop it.

I'm not quite following what you are doing. As far as I know the black pegs have no holes in them to feed through. I just lay the line through the split at the depth I want then insert peg. At 5:41 on the following video shows how we do the float.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.
I will watch that.

All of my pegs have holes through them longways.

Ok got ya now.
I watched that video back last year before I sent in my first order.
Guess I missed the part where they didn't go through the peg.

Thanks !

My bad Ruger. I just went out and looked at my float box. My new ones do have holes through them.....but older ones have no holes. First time I ever noticed.

That is no worse than me never thinking about just peggin it.
Seems like someone that fishes as much as I do would have thought.... duh dummy just don't go through the peg.

Thanks again for the help.

Picked up a pack of crappie magnets yesterday too, now if I can just get this 30 degree / 25-30 mph wind stuff to go away.........

Don't be so hard on yourself. I heard Juice asking Jeff at the TM booth how you are supposed to get 65# braid through that little hole.
