Default Trout Fishing Weekend Plans

My wife and I have no plans on the books for this upcoming weekend. That being said we want to head out and try our hand at trout fishing for the first time here in TN. We would like to camp and fish, or at least fish... !!!

We are within distance of the Obey, Caney, Elk, Clinch.... The Clinch has been running 1-2 generators often. Elk has 1 early morning/night, but it has 0 during the day. Caney is having 1 running afternoons, and the Obey has 1 early, and 0 after 10am or so. I have a feeling the elk or obey may be best.

We do not have a boat, but will have a canoe. We don't fly fish, we are spinner folks outta Idaho/Montana. From your experience, whhere would you try your luck?

Not sure if many folks are trout fishing on the forum? Thanks guys!

If you take 2 vehicles you could float the Caney and camp at Edgar Evins if they have any spots open. They might back down the gen on the Caney to 1 by the weekend. Look at the schedule for Friday and that is normally what it is for Saturday. If thats not possible then the Obey would be my 2nd choice.

According to this, Saturday's and Sunday's will be considerable less water flow on the Caney. 1 for a period and 0 for a period.

Thank you guys for the information. If Center Hill has 0-1 generators flushing water, do you know the ETA in a canoe to get from the Dam to Happy Hollow? Just thinking that there won't be much of a current w/ little generation...

I do not fish the Caney often as of the last 5 years but feel it should be the number 1 starting stream for ya'll then next focus on Obey.

I have had many great days at the Caney.

It all depends if the 1 is going or 0. On 0 it can take 3-5 hrs if you stop to fish a lot. With 1 going, only a few hrs.
