Default 2015 KBF OPEN (No better reason to get in a kayak)

This is a two day kayak bass fishing tournament with a lot of prizes, and cash. This will more than likely be the biggest freshwater kayak bass fishing tournament ever.

This will be the 3rd year for me to fish this tournament which is usually on Santee Cooper Lakes in South Carolina, but this year it's coming to Tennessee. I've worked or participated in this tournament every year since it began and it keeps getting better and better. What is even better is that Chad Hoover the man behind Hook1 in Hendersonville, TN is the person hosting this event. Chad has started some of the most successful kayak fishing tournaments and clubs in Virginia, and Texas, along with hosting 3 TV shows.

I fished the 2014 KBF Open and can confirm the amazing experience of the event. There were kayak anglers from 19 states and a ton of prizes and fun to be had. I will be at this year's event, and would love to see a huge turnout from TN...after all, this is being held in OUR backyard. This is a perfect opportunity to show that us TN kayak anglers are some of the best in the country. Hope to see everyone man, woman, and child that can fish from plastic boat out there.

I was talking to my wife about this last night actually. I'd love to do it but I just can't justify spending that much money on a tournament. I know the prizes are awesome and big money needs to be spent on entry fees to have such valuable prizes but the thing is, if I have one of "those days" where all I do is get hung up, catch small bass if any, etc. I'm going to be really upset feeling like I wasted my money. If that happens with a $20-$30 entry fee for one of our local events it's no big deal. Good luck to you two, I hope you represent TN kayak anglers well!

I plan on going, but I may not fish the tournament. I'm taking my camper and just plan to hang out and do a little fishing on my own. I think it'll be a fun experience.

I understand Jimmy, but to me it's about more than the fishing. It's about meeting other anglers and hanging out with a hundred to two hundred people who enjoy the same things as I. I don't know what we spent in tournaments and travel last year, but the rate of return was less than 1% I'm sure, and that doesn't bother me one bit because this is something I'm very passionate about.

Looking forward to seeing you 3Dawg. I was supposed to work it this year, and Sarah was supposed to fish it, but as of right now it looks like Sarah will be working it and I'll be fishing it. We take turns each year that way one of us can fish, and we don't always work well together.

Well it's almost time for the biggest tournament of the year.

We have almost hit our projected 200 entries.

I was skeptical 3 weeks ago when the water temps were 35/36 degrees. I'm just not a good cold water angler. The past week the weather has turned for the best and last weekend I was reading 43/45 degrees on Kentucky Lake, and from what I've heard yesterday people were finding 50+ degree temps, so the big girls should be moving shallower soon.

It's not to late to enter.

This is looking like the biggest paychecks in Kayak Fishing, more of a reason to buy a kayak

If you're not into the competition, Tournament Central will be at the Quality in in Paris. There will be an Expo with vendors, and live music.

Well this was the biggest freshwater kayak fishing tournament to date.

I was in 7th place after day 1, and the evening of day one I got really sick. I made it to my spot on day 2 but couldn't get the strength to get out of the truck to launch. After a 2.5hr nap I made it out and caught a few fish, and eneded up falling asleep again, but on the water. I ended up taking 29th place out of 153 anglers.

1st place won $16,000 cash, and about $5,000 in prizes

Big Fish took home a $6,000 ATAK prize package and $2000 cash

Over $50,000 was given away in Chas and prizes

Friday night we had 3 bands, and vendors booths set up all weekend.

This event just got some major exposure and will be THE event from now on that others will strive toward.

Get ready for the 2016 Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship next March KBFTN Will be a qualifier.

There is already $60,000 in cash committed for the 2016 and it will continue to roll in.

KBF "Kayak Bass Fishing" and KBS "Kayak Bass Series" are teaming up to create the biggest event that will trump last weekends. Get ready for qualifying only events where you must qualify to play, and big names jumping on board with cash sponsorships. This will be THE Bass Master Classic of Kayak Fishing with a huge venue, and many vendors, and payouts that can supplement incomes.

I know this isn't for everyone, and it will get to where a lot cannot qualify, or cannot afford to qualify, but there will always be small just for fun series like KBFTN, so don't dog it if it's not for you because there will always be something out there.

I'm doing well now, I was sick until Monday morning, and now Sarah has a sinus infection.

She was the main judge this weekend and worked non-stop from 8am-9/10pm everyday.

Just picked myself up a Ride135Max from Hook1.
Hopefully I will be up to speed on kayak fishing by the time next year's event rolls around. Kayaked the harpeth a couple time this past summer and had a blast, Figured I should buy my own.

Marc come out and fish with us http://www.kayakbassfishingtn.com/. We are a qualifying Series for the Tournament of Champions "Lake Fork Texas" and Kayak Bass Fishing National Championships.

Are rules are basically the same, just lower entry costs, and of course lower payouts.

The Ride 135 is a great kayak. It's what I personally fish out of for now. I've been in this kayak for more than 2 years, the longest single kayak I've ever been in. I usually get rid of them after 6 months to a year, and get something else. I am getting ready to get out of it though. So if you know anyone looking for a Ride 135 Max and can wait a month send them my way.
