Thumbs up Old Hickory Lake fishing report 1/18/2015

Well the fishing is a little on the slow side but we are still catching some fish from shore. Mostly skip jacks and some crappie are showing up in 8' waters but most of them are still in 15' to 26' on brush piles. I'm thinking of taking the boat out today and try a little crappie fishing with my new spider rig set up. I will let you know later on what I caught if any at all so good luck and GOD BLESS............WOODY

Thumbs up spider rig

I finally got out and it was like a sheet of glass and the water temp was 46.8. The blue bird sky made it a little slow where I was but I still caught one catfish and three gills but no crappie maybe another day. I was using CM's and the colors that caught fish today were red/white, white/chart and like a red flake in a clear green. I was fishing the cove I always go in near lock 3 and it's still loaded with bait fish and some 6" shad are there too.

That is a sweet setup! I like my crappie rods right over my transducer like that so I can see them hit.

See Woody, you were punished by catching no crappie because you didn't invite me to go fishing with you!

Punishment 1. No fish, beautiful scenery, relaxation, NO MERV IN BOAT- GREAT DAY

Punishment 2. Fish in boat, frustration, MERV IN BOAT - MISERABLE DAY

GREAT CHOICE WOODY.

Nice setup and what a nice day on the lake with that flat water. I'm looking forward to Spring Crappie and trolling for them in my kayak, I had a good time last Spring doing this.

MR ED and I went out today and he caught a catfish and a bluegill . I caught 2 drum, 1 catfish and 3 bluegills on the spider rig and the drum are fun to get in on 4lb test. The water temp is 45.7 to 46.8 and no crappie maybe the next time out in deeper water. So till then good luck and GOD BLESS.............WOODY
