So I thought I would take the yak out today and take nothing but my spinning reel and some hair jigs. Never really fished with hair jigs so I thought I would teach myself something new today. Had a great day! I caught 14 fish, mostly smallmouth. Most were caught on steep rock ledges in 12 to 15 feet of water. I do believe I have found myself a new go to winter bait!
A 1/8 oz hair jig and pork rind is old school, but they still catch the fish. When I fished Priest at night that combo, a worm, and a black spinner bait was all you would ever find in my boat.
