Swimbaits

Hi yah, I found this swimbait couple of years back below Percy priest dam. I had not used it until last week. It is a very heavy swimbait but gives out very good action and fish love it. I have had very good luck with it the last couple of days but unfortunately I got it hunged and lost the lure. I have no idea what kind of Swimbait it is and would love to know, Where I can get one of them. I'm guessing it was around 7-8 inches long. I'm looking forward to the weekend to fish again.

That's a Huddleston. They are great swimbaits and very affordable in the swimbait world. I get mine from Tackle Warehouse and rig them Butch Brown Style.

The one you have photo'd has modifications to the mouth and gills, which is very good to do to have a successful swimbait experience.

I would go with Brown Hitch, or Green Gizzard, looks more like Brown Hitch. You have to take the Rate of Fall into consideration also.

I have several packs of the Savage Gear 3D Craws seen here http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Savag...age-SG3DC.html, but that is the only Savage products I have. I watched the videos and they look to have good action. The Hudds are a softer action, and more of a thud from the action of the boot tail. What I've found is keep changing up what you are throwing if it starts to get popular. Fortunately we live in a place where swimbaits are not that popular.

I am building a box of them now and will be more of an option in my arsenal. Currently they are all soft style like Berkley 3" swim shads, Mister Twister 6" sassy shads, 9" Sledgehammers, 4" Renosky Super Shad and some Wildeyes.

Have you ever used the Renosky's? They are real subtle action just wish they came with a lighter head. The 4" comes with a 1 oz jig.

As for hard swimbaits I started out with the usual's like Spros. Then I started getting bigger like Mike Bucca Bull Shads, then Lunker Punkers, and many others. It's an addiction.

I loaded up on some ABT Banshees from tackle warehouse, now just trying to figure out where they would be effective. I'm shore bound so that limits things. Some glide baits are looking pretty appealing as well.

Smack Tackle SmackJack is my go-to, followed by the 7" Osprey, Producer Plug, and the 6 & 8 inch Castaic Trout (special time n place for the Castaic's).
