Default Cages Bend Camping/Fishing

Camping with friends and family at Cages Bend this weekend.

Planning to fish in the feeder creek nearby and at the main river channel.

Any tips/experience/complaints with the area are appreciated.

Fish in and around the shore grass on the points and in the backs of the pockets. You can see that creek is shaped like a "Y", the left side in the back is shallow along the left bank however where the culvert pipe is under Douglas Bend Road and to the right leading out to the primary point separating the two creek arms is deeper water. That point should have lots of shad holding on it and early morning is a topwater spot. The right creek arm gets shallow in the back also but all the docks are worth fishing, particularly on the western bank of that creek arm. It's a good spot, lots of cover to pick apart.

Oh by the way be careful how you run into the creek. Assuming you launch at the Cages Bend ramp, go upstream in the main channel and cut in between the creek channel bouys. Between those bouys and west to where the campground point is you are in shallow water. Also the creek channel bouys are on underwater points and the main river channel drop off is right there, if you have a good depthfinder you will see fish along those ledges and its worth a try.

Thanks, that was a lot of good info and we pushed into and explored all those locations (via kayak). Too bad the fishing was so slow this weekend. We saw bait everywhere, just couldn't land any fish.
