Default Anyone fight the lake crowds today?

I sure did not. I thought there might be a good boat ramp story out there somewhere?

Default Center hill

I hit Center Hill this morning. I got on the water in my Kayak at 5 am. Picked up at 10 am. I caught a 15" spotted and a small 12" smallmouth. Crazy boater started at 9 am. I paddle back to ramp and laugh at them. As I rolled my kayak up the ramp right pass them.

Well fall is on the way. I am going to hit the Hill in next couple of weeks looking for the fall shell cracker bite. Since summer is over for most shouldn't have too much boat traffic through the week up there. My hopes anyway. Congrats on your catch.

I hit the cumberland before sunrise looking for stripers. Fished for bait until I nearly fell over exhausted. Actually fished for about 1-1.5 hours with 1 blizzard shad, 4 very small skipjack that I somehow managed to catch in my cast net, and 3 bluegill. Caught 1 fish on a bluegill. 12 pounds. Had to keep her because she was grill hooked and bleeding out. Like an idiot I hit a buoy going about 25mph in the dark. I looked away for a split second and when I looked back it was right in front of me. Glanced it and scared the willies out of myself. All is well. So... I guess I,m the idiot boater in this story. Take it easy.

Sorry about all the spelling errors. Auto correct is responsible. My kindle doesn't know what a "gizzard" is or a "gill".

txnative met up with me and our little girls put a hurting on some creek bass today. Me and him also fished OH out of the kayaks last night from 8:30pm-4am. Only a handful of bass were caught (not by me) but a beautiful night to be out.

Thats funny! Ya always hear its the "unofficial" end of boating season. I wonder if people take that litterally and think they need to winterize till next summer! Lmao
Not that i mind reduced boat traffic but the water is still plenty warm and will be for quite some time still. Lol
But im fine with it! I bid good day to that same red/black ski boat i see every time i fish priest. Pulling a wake boarder within 50ft of me and im about 40 yards off shore! Still a 1/4 of open water on the opposite bank! Lol....idiots!

From my experience since school is back in session the lake traffic will slow to a trickle through the week. I used to fish JPP pretty regular in the early...late fall and I didn't see many boats at all where I would fish down around the dam. Same at Center Hill. I stayed away from some great shell cracker spots on Center Hill this summer because they were right in the travel lane for boaters. Was too much of a risk for me in the kayak with all that traffic. But in next few weeks all should be good again.

Regards
