Default Sandhill Crane

I was rummaging through TWRAs website and saw that there's a Sandhill Crane hunting season. Then I started googling if the meat was actually good and it seems to have good reviews. Has anyone actually hunted these? How are they hunted? I would assume a shotgun or a .22 but I'd have no clue. do you just hang out by a river and shoot away?

Hunt much like ducks. Dark meat but not as oily as duck.

There is no bird season in Tennessee that is legal with a single projectile. If it has feathers, it has to be harvested with a shotgun.

Except for crow during any season and its apropriate firearm/device and turkey during archery season.

Bizarre foods with Adam Zimmern was in Nashville not too long ago. Chris nischan had a piece on there about hunting crane and preparing it. I'll see if I can find a link?

I'm definitely wanting to try it. Sounds like it's good meat.
