Default Weekend fishing

Hi all,

Thinking of getting out fishing for the first time in what seems like forever. I sold my boat this spring, moved, and have been traveling for work a bunch, but now things are starting to settle down. So now I am going to go wading somewhere on Saturday.

I was thinking about fishing the Caney Fork but am not sure about the weekend generation schedule. If not there, I may just find a creek, although most of my usual creeks are low and hot right now.

Anyone have any good suggestions?

Jim

They are sluicing now on the caney with generation so if you do wade the water will get to you faster than normal.

You stay in same area or move out of gallatin?

We moved down to Hendersonville into a better school district. Out on Indian Lake peninsula now. I will look for a new boat in the spring and get back to lake fishing then.

Are they generating for a few hours during the day or is it an all day thing right now? I haven't been keeping up with the conditions.

Default Caney Info

If you check the www.tva.gov/lakes/cnh_r.htm site this afternoon they will have scheduled generating hours for tomorrow. If wading, don't get caught out there while water starts rising. BAD.

Pulsing in the morning and then again in afternoon.

I believe bd is on the penisula as well. Always good to move for school districts. Our girls are loving Christian Community school in white house.

No problem just let me know. Will be away from the house tonight and then going to the wilson county fair tomorrow. I dont mind leaving it out with all the seats/paddle and such.

I was able to get out fishing on Saturday afternoon. Didn't go to the Caney Fork as I got kind of a late start. I decided to do some wading in the creeks and it turned out to be a good choice. Caught lots of smallies like this

and almost an uncountable number of rockbass. The rockbass were stacked up in spots like this and would hit most any small plastic or spinnerbait.

I did lose a couple nice smallmouth bass as I was using a trout magnet setup with the 2lb test/ 2lb leader and I could not stop the bigger fish from going under the rock ledges and breaking off. I finally switched to a 6lb leader and landed more the 14 inch fish, but didn't hook a big one on the larger leader. This was mostly because I was in the best spot with the 2lb leader and spooked the hole before changing.

It was a good lesson that light tackle is fun, but too light of tackle is just frustrating.

At any rate, it was fun to get out and catch some fish.

Glad you got out and found some. The water looks great.

Still wish that kids didn't ruin that old creek spot we went to. There were some fun smallies in and around that stretch.

Great catches and beautiful water! I need to do some homework and find a few creeks like that.
