Yesterday evening my good childhood friend and I hit the Elk so I could give him a little taste of Trout fishing. We got on the river at about 4 and I spent some time showing him the ropes of fishing trout magnets. By the time we got to seriously fishing clouds had developed and we prayed the rain would hold off and we were left with some great conditions as the fog started forming above the water. I go to Harding and my friend Michael goes to UT Knoxville and it was so good to be on the river, sharing laughs, memories, and wonderful uplifting conversation . To add to the enjoyable atmosphere we were catching fish every other cast ! In about 3 hours of fishing we caught 57 and 17 of those were all him. Most of mine came from twitching a white TM with a chartreuse jig head while he stuck to drifting a pink. I was overjoyed to be able to share what i love with a good friend and he was overjoyed to catch 17 Trout! This was my last TN tailwater trip for awhile as I'm heading back to school next week, but I couldn't have asked for a better trip, except for maybe getting checked again by the twra and Michael having to walk a half mile to the car and get his freshly printed trout stamp.Better to be safe than sorry my friends. Fish ranged from 8 to 15 inches, and it was a good close to a summer of fishing home waters. So farewell TN, I'm heading back to the Little Red!!
