Default hybrids/stripers on JPP this morning

Met my new friend Jason (JKtrevecca) down at Hamilton creek this morning to head out in search of some hybrids on JPP. I'm sorry if I don't have great info on locations, I'm new to priest. Jason took us out a ways first thing and caught a mix of gizzards and threadfins for bait. We got to our first spot around 7 am, and within 3 minutes he was hooked up with a nice fish. That was short lived, as the fish spit the hook within 10 feet of the boat. Although we were marking a mess of fish, and there was bait everywhere, fishing was slow for a while. We took a run up a little bit and met up with FloatNfish (alex). while we were drifting around talking with Alex we landed 3 hybrids in the 2-4 pound range. He's actually got the pictures of one of our fish. Just before Alex took off, something took a quick run at our biggest gizzard shad, but we both were a split second behind and missed him. In typical fishermans style, we decided on "one more drift". Well worth it! on that same large gizzard shad (the first fish left him alive) we hooked into what appeared to be a good sized fish. I was fighting him, and every time I'd bring in some line, he'd tear it back away from me. Just as Jason was getting ready to shoot a little film of me fighting the big dog, another rod started bending like crazy. Double Header!. After a little finessing we landed both fish. Jason with a nice 8 pounder, and me with a nice thick 16 pounder! At first glance, we thought my hog was a hybrid, but after I looked at the picture, I'm thinking Striper. thoughts? Anyway, a total of 5 fish on the day, with the 2 biggest on the last drift. Coming from a salt water background, it was incredible to catch a fish like this in a lake. I couldn't be more grateful to Jason for taking the time to teach me a few things. And now I'm officially hooked!

Very nice fish! The bigger fish is definitely a striper and I'm almost sure the fish in the second pic is as well. I'm going to give this a shot one morning in the next few weeks of drifting over schools of them in my kayak and dropping bluegill down. I don't have a cast net to get shad but I'll catch some quick gills on trout magnets and keep them alive in a wire cage.

Nice fish! Both look like stripers. Broken lines don't mean a thing. I have caught many huge striper with broken lines.

Good looking stripers! Glad you guys got into a couple more fish after I left. Couldn't leave em hungry... Great meeting you both. Look forward to seeing you out there and hopefully fishing together soon. Attached are the pictures I took of you guys.
