I apparently had one too many Margaritas on Friday night and let the wife and kids talk me into island camping on Percy Priest for Saturday and Sunday. Well, as it turns out, we had a blast and after about 6pm felt like the lake was practically empty. But even before that I said boat traffic be damned. I'm trolling for crappie.
I put ten in the ice box on Saturday afternoon in one of my favorite coves with boats anchored up and tied together everywhere. I'm sure they thought I was crazy till they saw me pull a few out. One guy on a pontoon quizzed me on what I was using and what not and next thing I know he pulls out a spinning rig and starts casting.
The next morning I went to the same place early before boats arrived and quickly filled my cooler up. Took home 25 keepers with a couple in the 11 inch range but the majority were in the 13-14 inch range. Caught and released a 8lb flathead cat and a ton of green trash fish. I think some folks call them bass or something.
All were caught on 300 series bandits at 1.5mph-2.0 mph. Water temp was 86 degrees and several times as I was going along I would put the motor in neutral and as soon as the boat slowed, a fish would hit.
Anyway, here are a few pics of fish and camping whatnot.
