Default Where did the Shad Go on Old Hickory?

Has anybody seen them? It's getting hard to find bait these days. We found about 3 big gizzard shad by Flippers and went out to the channel for some cat fishing, but the shad schools have moved out of all my bait gettin' spots.

I'm not sure about the lake but I was below the dam last weekend fishing for Small mouth and there were threadfin all over the place. Didn't see many gizzard shad though.

I seem some big threadfin today on the flats off the channel right before you hit cages bend. If you are coming from flippers right before cages bend you go under the power lines check around there.

Thanks Man. Are you talking the flats to the left of the channel coming from Lock 4, or the shallow area flats around the cove?

Flats to the left of channel coming from lock 4 headed towards the dam. If you remember where the power lines are on the main channel it's the flats on the left start looking there.

Thanks. My new Catfish/Striper rig is a Shimano 7' Trolling Rod with an Okuma reel with a line counter. Right now it has been spooled by Bass Pro with their Free 30lb mono. I thought I'd try it out to see if I was going to keep it before I put my 80lb Braid on there. So Far So Good. It brought up several 20+ pounders like they were blue gill )
