Default Duck River Kayaking

We've been hitting the Duck a lot with friends and family, people from out of town and new to kayaking or kayak fishing lately. So my oldest has been requesting a serious fishing day.

Father's day weekend seemed a good choice, so we invited our friend Colby and the 3 of us spent 12 hours on the water from the Normandy Bridge to Dement Bridge accesses.

We were rewarded with perfect weather, hardly anyone else on the water and big trout.

I landed my best of the day (14") while setting my rod down to navigate some small rapids. I had 12" of leader and a TM hanging in the water and the fish hit it at the surface boat side. I had to scramble to grab the rod and haul the fish into the boat.

Some nice bluegills and shellcrackers caught this time, so we brought a few of them home. We cooked up the gills for appetizers and had the trout for dinner last night.
