Default Kayak Bass Fishing TN Event Tuesday May 27th RESULTS

199 Lock 3 Road Hendersonville, TN 37075

This is a paddle/pedal craft only event, no electric or gas motors

Registration begins at 4:45, and closes at 5pm
Brief Captains meeting and start fishing around 5:10, and check in at 8:00
2 Fish Black Bass Limit, no minimum length due to CPR (Catch Photo Release)
Entry $10, Big Bass optional $5
100% Payout
Number of spots paid out dependent on the number of entries
Hawg Trough is the only approved measuring device, can be purchased onsite "limited quantities", or at Hook 1 in Hendersonville on the way to the event.

We have been averaging 23-25 for the weekday events so big bass has been taking home $100+, and we've been paying out 4 spots $100-$125 for 1st, $50-$60 2nd, $30-$40 3rd, and $20-$25 for 4th. Not bad for a low entry fee, cheap event that is quality ran.

Be careful guys. There is a tournament that leaves Saundersferry Park at 5:30 every Tuesday and boats do come that way at high speeds.

I'd love to make this one Jeremy but it's quite a hike from work and then an even longer drive back home. I'm very much looking forward to the Hamilton Creek event though!

I understand Jimmy. I'm trying to split the events between the north and south even though it's only a 45-1gr difference between locations. We have a lot of people in Gallatin, White House, and Portland that are very interested, along with Dickson, Mt. Juliet, Murfreesboro, and Spring Hill. There is no location that suits everyone so that's why we made the schedule jumping back and forth. I know there are some who can take off work early, and I know some who cannot. The most central location would be the lower end of Percy Priest, but I can see people from Gallatin, Springfield, and Portland not coming then. Well see how this season goes, and then re-evaluate until we find the right combination.

I've heard word of someone else in the area wanting to start up tournaments and we will see how that goes, and decide if we want to keep doing ours if that happens.

This has become something I had never thought.

KBFTN is being received better than I had ever imagined, thank you everyone. We've never had any fights or arguments, there is a lot of laughter and socializing. We are getting people traveling 1hr 30 minutes one way to fish these events, people are taking off 1/2 days of work to fish these events.

Last night we had 30 people show, 28 fished. We had 2 spectators We also had 2 ladies fishing, 1 spectating, and a total of 3 ladies have fished out events. We had three youth anglers that I know of last night and one cashed. This sport is for everyone, young, not so young, male, female, it doesn't matter.

Surprisingly the fishing was much slower than the day before. The day before I was catching them on shakey head/Roboworm combo, and Frogs. Last night the bite was cranks got the numbers, and won the event. The competition was tight up near the top with coming down to precise judging of photos.

We paid out 5 spots and 26 people entered for big bass.

Mike Ernst 30.5" $270
Ron Champion 29.75" $55
Shawn McClendon 28.75" $40
Hamilton Lomay 28.25" $30
Ryan Martin 27.75" $15

The Hawg Trough Challenge is well over $300 and still growing. Will it hit $500?

I want to thank TK and FishingTN for all the support, and a great forum to hang out on and share our stories.

We had some tough luck. We went out Monday "Memorial Day" just to check out the area. Sarah ended up catching a few 14-15" bass. I done real well I catching a 19.25", 17.75", and a couple 14" bass. I didn't fish hard just checked a few spots. Came back Tuesday for the tournament and I caught one 12.25" Crappie, and one bass that was around 12". That's why they call it fishing, sometimes you catch them sometimes you don't.
