Gills 4/21/14
Just got back from overseas last night. Which was a fantastic trip, but no fishing for 9 days. So i had to wet a line after work today. I only had about an hour, so I hit a local pond for some gills. I found them right where they should be, they were just starting to move to spawning areas. The males were pretty active, but should get real good in a few days. Caught several of these beautiful males twitching a purple haze TM on 2 lb test. They were all cookie cutter 8" fish. But they are a touch bigger than last year, so i am really looking forward to what it will produce in a few years. saw TONS of HUGE shellcrackers cruising the shoreline or sitting in the sun. Wanting nothing to do with me. Would have like to get on a few of them, oh well.

Beautiful fish! I have seen those shell crackers in the lock jaw mode many times....very frustrating. Spent about 6 hours one day two years back trying to catch some of them doing the same as you describe....about 50 of them cruising around and couldn't entice any of them......even tried worms...crickets...nothing. Went back 3 days later and they had moved out off the bank and caught them at will.
Regards

Nice, looks like fun and glad you got back safe.
I will be hitting my bluegill hole (which happens to be near work) tomorrow on lunch as...every day should be.

The run was great! I ran it at my wife's pace, and decided to run another this weekend in Nashville. I will give it my all and retire my full marathons and stick to the halfs!

My wife will be running this weekend as well with her sister. Maybe I'll see you downtown.

Glad you're both back safely. Good luck on the run this weekend. If you want to come hang out afterward around a campfire come on out.
