Default Pre-Tournament Scouting

As most of you know Kayak Bass Fishing TN Season Opener is next weekend. We are having it out of Bledsoe Creek State Park. I've never fished Bledsoe Creek so Thursday my buddy Craig and I went out there to check it out. We got on the water around 3:30pm, and first paddled to the mouth of the creek where it dumps into the Cumberland, it was a quick paddle so I figure some people will paddle out there, and try to hit some fish that are moving in, or a couple pockets that I saw off the main river on the map.

The water temperatures was anywhere from 63 in the main creek channel closer to the river and warmed up to 68/69 in the shallow pockets and away from the main creek channel.

There was lots of bait on the surface and sub-surface. Most of the bigger fish were in 12-14'.

We headed back toward the ramp fishing our way back. Around dark I tied on a buzz bait hoping to entice something on topwater, but had no luck. Unfortunately there weren't any fish on top.

We caught 9 bass between us most in the 15" range. Craig caught one nice 19"+ largemouth and I also picked up a couple crappie.

It looks like we are going to have a great weekend ahead of us.

Anyone is welcome to come out, and hang out. We'll have some games set up, and it's a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. Also anyone from a paddle craft is welcome to fish it.
