Default Williamsport fishing report 04/16/2014

Got out early this morning to fish. Started at Blue Cat. I caught 153 fish today. I am going to say 110 were short crappie...pretty fish....fun...but short. There were a few legal ones in the mix but not many. I did get into some chunky 8 inch Gills. They gave me a good fight. On the way out stopped at Golden Eye and caught 3 large mouth like the one in the pic and then called it a day. All fish caught using a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a 1/32 ounce jig head with a #8 hook. It was a little cool at first but turned out to be a nice day. There were a couple of bass fisherman hitting it pretty hard but their take was the cold front had shut the fish down. There was a guy on the dock and he was catching 9 inch crappie also. The distance from where I was fishing and him had to be 600 yards or so....the point is that lake has got ten's of thousands of those crappie in there. So many in there that no matter where you moved to you couldn't get away from them. But it was a great day of relaxing and catching fish. I was really happy to get into some 8 inch Gills....I was thinking all the bigger Gills were being harvested....and I still think that but it may not be as bad as I first though. Going to Nickajack Friday and maybe Pickwick tailrace tomorrow.....life is good!

Regards

Pretty color on those gills. Glad to see the cold weather didn't slow down the fish out there.

Those are nice looking gills, Alpha. I'm glad you're able to get out there and enjoy this beautiful weather we're having right now.
