Default Spots at Normandy

Got to Normandy early this morning hoping to get my spot for when my son got there. Well I was there 2 hours before he arrived. In this 2 hours caught 93 Kentucky's....most all at the 14 inch mark. Today I had an exact number as Saturday I got my fish counter in the mail....catch a fish push the counter....LOL. I was using a 1/8 ounce jig head with a #8 steelhead hook. I was switching out between a Bison colored Trout Magnet and a Midnight Blue Crappie Magnet. Man what fun! Shortly after my son arrived an easterly wind picked up and they shut off completely. So we went down river and caught all the trout we wanted. He only stayed a couple of hours but it was the first time he had been out fishing in quite a while. It was good to fish with him again. There were two guys there this a.m. when I arrived. They worked at the Nissan plant in Decherd on the seven to seven shift....yuck. But anyway one of them was throwing a jerk bait and not catching any at all and the other one was throwing and Alabama rig and doing well. Got to talking with them and they seemed interested in my lure so I gave them a few. The point of that is when you are nice to people they are generally nice back. Got a lot of info on the Duck below Normandy and Normandy Lake....I mean stuff you can use...such as locations and times. I had always heard that the Smallies would stack up below Normandy Dam but I had never experienced it. Well I was never going at the time of year to Normandy that they are there. Also got some great info on catching walleye there with the spot to fish and what lure...really nice guys. All in all a great day.

Regards

Thanks......Well as Thomas Jefferson said when asked why he fished below dams his reply was "That's where the fish are"......LOL. Seriously they are making there run upstream for spring and they can't go any further...so they are stacked in there. Lots of fun on light gear. Funny how the east wind shut them down.

I'll keep reporting Merv and maybe we can get together before they head back down stream. Something I didn't mention in the report but surprised me....there was another shad kill this a.m. That is the 5th one I have seen there this year.
