Default Saturday bass fishing

Today I got to fish with Jeff Stafford in the tournament on Center Hill. It was a very slow day and the winner had 3 fish. I fished the first hour without a bite on power fishing baits such as a 3 bladed spinnerbait, a dt10 in red craw pattern, and Jeff fished the a rig. We figured out that they were not wanting to chase baits at all. We resorted to fishing steep banks with 3/16 ounce bitsy bugs and shaky heads. They really liked the black/blue jig color a lot better that green pumpkin or watermelon. The first 2 hours I didn't have a bite until I had a nice fish take the claws off my jig trailer two different times. The second time I had the fish on for 3 seconds. Now I can see why iaconelli has those fits. Within the last hour of the tournament I caught a 12.25 inch spotted bass on the jig.

After the tournament I went bank fishing JPP and I ran into jallen67. He started wearing them out on a point near me with zoom tiny brush hogs in green pumpkin. He graciosly let me fish next to him. He had caught 10 and I had caught 1. I did end up catching a 4 pound largemouth on the tiny brush hog. He took the picture and he said he would put it on here. Those bass on the point were in the pre-spawn pattern. At the end I had a fish chase a uv speed craw fished texas rigged weightless and reeled on the surface like a buzzbait.

To bad about the tournament, I have had many one fish days.

But a 4 pounder makes up for it.

Congrats on the 4 pounder. From talking to other people on the water and at the ramp, yesterday was just one of those days.
