Thumbs up Rig-used

Used a 20 wide conventional w/30 lb test. 6/0 bearing swivel to 75 ft of 100lb mono leader. Led above swivel dropped down to bottom w/ live pilchard and slow trolled over ship wreck.

Great looking fish. What was the depth, was it on a wreck, what was he using for bait? I've never fished off the beach in Southeast Florida, but I would guess it gets much deeper quicker on the Atlantic side.

yes, it most definitely gets deeper much quicker drops over 1000 feet of water and less than 5 miles off shore, depth of fish was 500ft, I put the tackle & bait used in the comment below, but it was a live white bait a lot of heavy mono, slow trolling over Wracks.

Sounds good Salty. I've been wanting someone to mothership me out about 15 miles for a Swordfish. Two of us were going to paddle it a couple years ago, but we came to our senses. 15 mile out, hook up with a sword fish, figt it for 2-3 hrs, then paddle back 15 miles, 20 miles if we were unlucky, or if very lucky it would pull us back toward Miami.

Ha, that is all very true my friend. Gulf stream can be pretty tricky if your backyard wasn't the ocean growing up, call me some time well discuss some possibilities as far as dates are concerned. Gear isn't too specialized, but their are some specific requirements, Drifting for Sword, day time is the most up to date stratigy.
Don't know if you got my message I sent you but I did go by hook1 Chad "hooked" me up. Thanks

Glad to hear that. With the tournament series I'm running, and 3 other series I'm fishing in this year is really cramped. We are trying to plan vacations and keep hitting brick walls.
