Trout fishing
Got my waders for Christmas and I'm ready to try and fish for some trout. Where would be an easy place to start out tomorrow? It's my first time trout fishing so I suspect I'll carry my rod and some TMs. Any suggestions out there?

Just looking at the weather for next week or so,I would wait until the weather is warmer and there is no generation on the Caney.
And when it gets warmer I will be going if i'm not taking some sick person to the doctor.
Give me a PM and we will hook up and I will bring every known color of T M's and jig heads plus floats.
Take care
Ed

The Elk will be normal flow.....100 CFS......tomorrow. Normandy is running a little high but you could get some stockers below dam area. Try a Bison colored TM at Normandy..... If that don't work try white.....then whatever other colors you may have. Good luck.

It seems like they had a stocking at JPP dam today. Is it fishable from the bank for trout?

I would take Ed up on his offer if you get the chance. He can flat catch a lot of trout. He is very good with that 9 foot float road with a TM under a float.

Oh yeah. After the generator cuts off try both banks if one or the other is not producing.

Trout stamp. Limit of 7 trout....any length for Percy....Normandy....and Elk. Regs much different for Caney Fork.

I went to JPP and caught 1 trout today. The wind was just atrocious. Couldn't get my TM past about 15ft. Anything that'll work well with trout when it's too windy for a TM?

Small Rapala cranks, spoons, rooster tails, Cleo's will work well. Were you using the float with the TM? I primarily use the TM w/o float and a small split shot weight a few inches above to help cast in wind and get down into current a little.

All good lures no doubt. As TroutFiend said you can put a split shot on.... I don't recommend any larger than a size BB. When it is windy it is a good time to fish the TM under a float.

I was using a float and a split shot. Does a reel have any effect on casting distance? Maybe it's time to get away from my $25 rod/reel combos...
