Thumbs up Rockfish vs kayakers episode 2

Got into stripers again this morning. I ended up catching around 15 or so, both on topwater and subsurface lures. Most of the fish were around 18-22" long, but a few 8 lbers showed up, along with the 15 lber in the picture below. Not as active on top as last Thursday, and the water was dirtier, but I figured out a pattern. Also caught a few big white bass, around 15" or so. After the stripers quit playing, I changed tactics and caught a few tilapia and small bluegill on a Trout Magnet. If you combine all the paddling I did on Dale Hollow yesterday, and all the fish-fighting today (best stretch was 5 fish on 5 consecutive casts), it's easy to understand why my arms are a bit sore. I'll be back at it again on Wednesday, though. #becausewefish

PS: Jeremy, sorry if this rubs salt in the wound...hopefully this bite will continue for a while !

Ahem... Jeremy isn't the only kayaker who'd like to join in these rockfish outings

Chris, with your success you should start a blog chronicling your kayaking adventures. There are some good ones out there, but none local on our waters.

Sooner or later I'll get into big stripers. I’m reading up on methods to catch them as it is new to me.

I'll be happy to answer your questions. I learned a ton about these fish from someone who had dedicated his life to them. All I've been doing the past 7 years is researching bites, patterns, migrations, and behavior of the true bass family...almost to the exclusion of everything else. I have a few nuggets of information I keep a pretty tight lid on, but I love to help others and besides, there are far more fish in the water than I could ever hope to catch, so sharing comes easily. PM me specific questions, the lurkers on this site are too numerous. Other than that, I look forward to helping others, after all, I know I'll have questions in the future and will need someone's help.

I added rod holders so that I can carry 9 rods...better to have and not need than to need and not have.

What is a BMC, by the way ?
