Default Jpp 12/26/13

Went to JPP yesterday about noon (today being the 27th) and launched at Fate Sanders marina. The water was a nice chocolate color and visibility was less than a foot. Water temp was 45 degrees.

Motored up to Spring Creek and started fishing the flats with a charteuse and white twister tail 1/16 oz chartreuse jighead. The creek was about 54 degrees and visibility was a little less than two feet.

I caught one white bass after five minutes and was thinking maybe I'd have a good day. UH.....NO!

Fished that flat for ten more minutes....nada.

Moved on up the creek closer to the Maddox Rd fishing area where a lot of people fish the bank. I was supposed to meet creekcrappie there about 1:00.

Fished another area close to the bluff and picked up a small yellow bass on a castmaster gold 1/8th oz spoon. Creekcrappie called and said he'd be there about 2:00, he was running late. Continued fishing that area for another thirty minutes.

Creekcrappie called and said he was waiting on his uncle to get there. I decided to throw a jerkbait for bass along the sunny rocks off a bluff wall. Did that til 2:45 with no hits and creekcrappie called and said his uncle was five minutes away.

Trolled over to where creekcrappie and his brother were fishing on the point, and fished that area, waiting for his uncle to arrive, caught a bluegill on a small trout spinner.

Uncle Nate arrived at 3:00 and I trolled over, said hi, exchanged phone numbers, picked up the two boys and headed upstream to warmer waters, fishing all the way.

We only had an hour to fish and in that hour, creekcrappie caught nothing, his brother caught one small white bass and I snagged a threadfin shad.

AT 4:00 I dropped the boys off with their uncle and headed home. Great day to be on the water but not much luck fishing.

I think today I'll head over to Old Hickory. If the water clarity is four feet like tacklemake says, that's a whole lot better than JPP.

Good luck to all.

Good luck today. I'll probably be headed to fish near Celina tomorrow, then fishing closer to home on Sunday. I want to try out my All Pro Rods 9' Float and Fly rod on Dale Hollow while the weather is good for the float & fly, and TravisC may join me Sunday to break in his new used kayak if he's done being sick. Look forward to a good report from you, Merv !

Chris, doesn't look like I'm getting out today. Too many chores and errands to get done.

Hope you have some good luck on DHL.

That puts a damper on the day.
