Default Academy Ethos Cranking Rod

Any one used this rod?
http://m.academy.com...10051_148117_-1

It is a 7 foot composite cranking rod at Academy rated for 1/4-1/2 ounce.

I will either get this, or BPS Crankin' Stick, so no need to recommend more pricey rods please.

Is a 5.4:1 necessary or could I put a 6.4:1 on it for cranking...also, depending on what reel I use, what other type baits could I throw on it (please specify baits to throw based on what reel you suggest)...THANKS!! (Yes I will wait on the Rod Riot or BPS Spring sale)

I have two of the skeet reese cranking rods…. and love them. I have the 7'10" magnum rod and a 7' also. I have a 4:9:1 reel for the 7'10" rod for large crank baits (14-20ft divers). I do not like the 4:9 on the smaller rod because I use it for top water and smaller baits and I do not think you get enough action out of the baits because of the gear ratio. You can get the rods at tackle warehouse.com for 65 bucks right now and a 25 dollar gift card as part of the 25 days of christmas.

You will not be disappointed. Good rod for the price. I'm with Juice however and I have Wright & McGill Skeet Reese rods and love them. The 7'10" is a good one.
