Default Jpp crappie and Yellow Bass 12-3-13

I went to shelby park today for a few hours and I didn't even get a bite. I decided to try and find a few yellow bass on percy priest on my way home and we did just that. Me and my brother caught about 30 crappie total with 16 being keepers. Yellow bass kept us entertained before the crappie bit. We caught around a hundred of them and we kept around 40 of them. All the fish were caught on a 1/16 ounce jighead and a salt and pepper tube jig.

You ain't kidding about that Alpha. Maybe Chris will chime in on how big the one I lost at the boat was this spring was. You won't believe me. My guess was over 2lbs..

That looks like a lot of fun Isaac. Too bad you couldn't get the Shelby trout to cooperate. I have never had much luck there even days after the stockings. Creek or river winter stockings have been much better for me.

It took me an hour and a half to clean them all! I had one that was 13 inches. It was about the same size as one I caught at Tim's ford a few years ago. Travis, I
normally catch my limit on JPP tailwater and nice mill stockings.

Over 2 lbs EASILY. I was more amazed at the nonchalant "he got off, oh well..." response Travis had. I caught and RELEASED (like a dummy) a yellow that I weighed at a little over 2.5 lbs two years ago on old hick not knowing the world record was 2 lbs 9 oz...still kicking myself about it. Travis was close to the same size...about 15-17" long and wide as a dinner plate.

nice mess of fish there Isaac!!, I talked to a guy last week on Normandy, I did not fish just went out to shake the cabin fever since my baby girl was born and for twoand a half weeks just played Mr mom, he said he found some nice Crappies on 8 ft of water while all other fisherman were looking deep with no fish to show for, so warmer water was the ticket!, so when is the fish fry??

Nice mess of fish. Do you have an electric fillet knife? They make things easy.

No I use a regular knife. I have heard you don't get as much meat with an electric knife. I guess I need to get one soon.

We have always used and electric fillet knife and have never noticed a loss of meat. They make things so much quicker.
