Default Caney 12/2

Stopped to fish the caney for a few hours today on the way to knoxville. Caught about 9 with a trout magnet on my fly rod and 2 with a BHPT. WHat are some good flies to use in Decemeber, trying to leave the trout magnet for spinning gear?

Midges are typical winter stuff if your not slinging a big ugly streamer.

Sizes 16-22 in black, olive, purple and creme work best for me. IF I catch them rising will swing a soft hackle to them. Size 14-16 Partridge/Orange or Eat-At-Chucks.

Nice catch on the Caney. It's been fishing pretty good from what I have heard.

You can cast a trout magnet on a flyrod?? Do you mean the mini-magnet or the actual trout magnet?

Yep you can cast the normal sized trout magnet on a fly rod, pretty easily too. They weigh about as much as a splitshot, as mentioned by another member on here, I cant remember who.

I do it all the time too. Just open your loops up or roll cast it won't be much an issue If you try to cast it like a dry fly then your in for some problems or a hook to the head.

I catch the fire out of them trolling the pond using a trout magnet on a sink tip or sinking leader and a fly rod.
