That ramp is used by government services like TWRA - Metro - Corp- ect. It isnt accessible to the general public.

Also do not go into the small cove next to the ramp. It has restricted access. I don't know if they can legally restrict it but if any corp employees are around they sure as heck will let you know to stay out. They have it as their own private fishing area. Lots of sunken brush in there.

I've been all over that site while doing electrical engineering for the Corps at JPP Hydroplant. Doubt you can even make it to the ramp, there's a lot of access gates and controls all throughout the site.

You're an electrical engineer? Cool, me too! Though since you work at the Hydroplant we do completely different types of engineering. I'm a controls engineer mainly working in the food and beverage industry. Lots of PLC programming and control panel electrical design.

Jimmy,

There's I&C work in any industrial environment and I do a lot of controls myself. The hydro generation part of TVA's dams is run from downtown Chattanooga with Siemens S7 gear. Turns the generators on and off, opens/closes all the gates, takes head and tailwater readings, runs pumps, etc etc.

My oldest son is heading to Tech next year, probably doing EE. I'd love to meet up for some fishing some time and let him hear about your experience.

Are you getting out on JPP this weekend?

Billy

Awesome, I just graduated in May from Tech so I would have a lot to tell him. A buddy I graduated with works at TVA in Chatt but not on the controls side, he's working on power systems. I won't be fishing JPP this weekend but probably will next weekend. Also headed there next Tuesday for the kayak fishing event.
