Default Caney Saturday 9/7

Decided to take a little trip with dad since he hasn't fished much this year. Started off the day at Happy and to our surprise the number cars in the parking lot didn't equal the people fishing. Out of all Happy there was maybe 2-3 others wading. We headed to our usual spots but the fish just weren't too cooperative at first. Dad was getting hits yet couldn't stick them due to the rust not quite being off. I caught several on TM's white or yellow without a float still no size. I did catch some nice bluegill though. That was kind of shocking being in mid river at Happy catching gills instead of trout.

Later we moved up to the pond but not without stopping to refuel at Big Rock and rent some life jackets since I left ours back at home.

The pond was full of eager trout. We caught a bunch on TM's in the same colors none bigger than stocker size but fun none the less. Also caught a nice white bass and some more nice gills.

Fun trip, lots of numbers, diversity but no size this time. Maybe next time will be size.

Always nice to catch...no matter the size. Glad you got on some fish. Is odd about those Gills.

Travis, I have not been to the Caney since May or June and I want to go up there soon. Would I still be able to catch some stockers there when they are not generating? I have never really been up there when they are not generating. And that is crazy about those bluegill.

Creekcrappie, there are a ton of stocker trout especially around the Dam. They stocked Labor day weekend. You shouldn't have a problem.

Travis,

Nice going...I take it you left the camera at home with the life jackets?

I made the 42 mile ride to Laurel Hill one day and put the kayak in the water and looked for my paddle in the car......not there.....LOL. I just fished from the bank.

I had my I-Phone but pics never really crossed my mind since they were stockers. The camera I usually take fishing finally died. It was on borrowed time any ways since it was dropped in a pond last year then after being dried out still continued working up until a month ago.

Don't worry Travis, Fall is creeping in and those big, fat Browns will be active soon enough!

I think you are going to get into bigger browns...on average....than we ever have.
