well since I had not gotten back to the caney since mid march I thought I would give it a go.
me and my friend Brian loaded the boat around 12 then headed out had a few stops to make then headed east. we got to the damn around 3. soo we hung out tva planed to run the generator until 5. soo we enjoyed a few hrs below the cover picnic table talking about what lures we wanted to throw. well once we got that all ironed out we launched the boat at 4:45 and waited for the water to shut off.
well just as tva projected 5pm and off it went.
soo we started our quest to catch whatever was hungry. and as usual when the water went off trout began to feed everywhere. and Brian had to hot lure. he landed a few nice trout. one was a very nice brookie that went 16.5inches had wonderful color. well over the next three hrs he caught and released 8-10 trout off all three species. once night fell he lost his touch. but still managed another 8 or soo trout. and the next morning he picked it right back up and started catching fish again. I think in total he had around 20 trout landed. biggest brown was 17 or soo and had a 18 inch bow.
I could hardly buy a bite with the sun up. I did manage 3 trout and 1 yellow bass. but when that great heat tab in the sky fell I must have remembered how to fish. I think the heat was messing with me
. all through the night I caught fish off and on probably landed 30 or soo fish. had one very small striper. three walleye two went home they both where 21inch fatties. largest brouwn was 20.5 inches and largest rainbow went almost 19inches. all the brooks I landed where 13inches and under. I also caught a 28-30inch gar and a 12lb carp. all on 4lb test. what a fight.
we had a fun night and can't wait for our next trip.
