Mice for bait?
I have a 100 gal aquarium that I have started putting some fish we caught in it. There is a small mouth, couple crappie, couple cats, couple bluegills. Last night caught a mouse in trap and thought what the heck, throw it in tank and see what happens(it was dead). That small mouth exploded from mid tank and hit that mouse and swallowed it.
Just got me thinking if anyone has ever used mice for bait, live or dead? I know you can buy what they call pinkies pretty cheap at pet stores. Is it worth trying?

I always wondered why someone didn't market mice as CAT FISH bait.

Big trout love them.
I have caught some nice bass on mouse patterns and my flyrod.

I was literally just think about back when I kept an aquarium full of native species when I happened upon this topic...bass were so much fun to feed. After they got used to the tank they would get excited to to see me me in anticipation of feeding...drop a live feeder gold fish and they would explode on it. Probably will set up another tank in the future when/if my kids get interested.
I would think that mice would work well but how the heck would you hook it? Maybe just try to tie the hook to it....I would think that it would drowned pretty soon after using it. If you give it a go I would like to hear about the results.
