Default old hickory lake fishing report 8/30/2013

I got out today and found no wind with blue bird sky and hot as hell. I got in the lake around 6:30am at lock 3 ramp and found some braking fish not many. The water temp was around 84 deg so I started with a KVD top water with no takers then I switch to a KVD 1.0 and pick up a small drum trolling and no other hits on this lure. So I pick up the rod with the 6" black lizard by zoom and caught a nice LM around 11/2 lbs in 8' to 10' of water. I always like to try something new so today I put on a lure made by Rebel called the Rebel Raider. Its a small lipless lure about 11/2" long that sinks so I put it under a float about 3' and troll it with the bow mount at 3 speed and pick up a white bass. All the fish that I catch I release so someone else can have fun catching them. Its was getting to hot to fish after 4 hours on the water so I stop and came in but I will be back out there tomorrow morning if it dosen't rain.......................woody

Good job Woody. I'm glad I've been working a lot lately, it's just too hot to be out on the water. Be careful out there, stay hydrated, and wear appropriate clothing.

Hi Guys, New here but thought I would stop in and say Hi!

I fished Drakes Last night with no luck and with all the boats and high pressure it's gonna be hard for me to find them I fished the banks with black worms then switched to spoons on the channel.

I'm finding alot of fish in 20' to 24' but I think alot of them are drum , at least that is what is hitting. Most fishermen are using deep diving cranks but I like 1/8oz feather spinner baits just up off the bottom or using lizards. I'm not killing them but least I'm catching something. Tomorrow I will try something diffrent if I don't get shot by a goose hunter. This was todays catch a bluegill in 3' water, a LM in 8' water ' a drum in 23' water.............woody
