Gills are back in my old hole!
Has been a while since i checked it out or fished period. Boy am i glad to see the fish kill last year didn't hurt too bad. A chartreuse crappie magnet dud it today in the 45min of checking the spot.
A trout magnet would have cleaned house. A fly rod will be accompany me in the next stop there.

Glad to hear that. Having had a long conversation with a TWRA Officer about Laurel Hill it is quite apparent the lake has been over fished. You can catch them still......but it is a hit and miss thing. Not sure if anything will be done but I sure miss what it was.
Regards

That is a crappie magnet's jig head poking out of his mouth not a trout magnet.

Thanks, they sure are at this place. Not many know about it and I try hard to keep it that way. When me and my 3 year old walked down to the edge of the shore there were gills like these and some bigger hanging around looking up. Didn't take long to see something go from the limbs down and dapple the water result in 3 or 4 fish converging with a nice size swirl. Also noticed a school of small 2" bream swimming the bank and then loop out and back like a circle. About every couple rounds you'd see a bright white flash scattering the school.
I believe I know what that was...
They aren't just nice size wise but kinda thick too. This is one from an earlier trip this year.
Thought I'd black it out for some fun...

Nice bluegills! I love catching those big bluegill with crappie magnets! I can't seem to find a spot to fish for anything that has not been fished a TON.

This is one of those hiding in plain sight gems. Most aren't even aware there is water there.

I am auctioning off the location to "TravisC's Old Hole" to the highest bidder. He mad the mistake of telling me where he was.
Chris
PS: I may wanna rethink the name...

Nice fish Travis. There's a small creek just down the road from me...mostly really shallow but it does have some holes. I've been thinking about wading it since we moved here, the main thing holding me back is lack of parking and that it goes through some really thick woods/vegetation. I don't think many (if any) people fish it so I bet the holes have some fish in them.
