Default Pulling cranks

Getting ready to hook up the boat and head to JPP. Gonna pull some crankbaits for crappie out of Long Hunter today. I don't expect a lot during this cold front.

Good luck! Sometimes the cold fronts surprise you and trigger a bite!

Good luck. I struck out yesterday afternoon pulling cranks from the Jefferson Springs area. I have been consistently catching good crappie for the last several weeks in that area and yesterday afternoon was dismal. Three tiny white bass was it! I saw a lot of fish on my fishfinder they just didn't hit. Hopefully you can figure them out.

I've seen a few reports of tough fishing yesterday. I guess the cold front gave them lockjaw as expected. By this weekend things should be back to normal!

Default Crankbait trolling JPP 08/15/2013

Went out this morning with TK, draggin cranks for crappie. Probably caught 17-19. Put 11 in the livewell, lost two boatside, had one jump out of the measuring cup and back into the lake.

Caught one largemouth 14 1/2 inches, one small cat, a little yellow bass, a gar, and a 13 inch hybrid. Not a total wasted day but could have been better. Others we talked to weren't doing very well at all.

The water temperature outside of long Hunter launch was 78 degrees at 9:00 AM.

We weren't too much into taking pictures, too busy talking fishing and just general BS'ing.

Smile What a fun Morning ... <'TK><

First off The weather this morning was great !! I guess as we get older certain smells, sounds, temps, brings back memories, some recent and some from your childhood ... It was that way with Me when Merv and I headed out on the Lake Thursday.

The smell of two cycle exhaust coming from Merv's outboard took me back to when My dad and I would go out and used his 1.1 HP Sea KIng that he bought a Montgomery Wards. The sounds of fish jumping, and smell of campfires coming from campers on the bank. It was all good ...

Sorry it has taken me this long to post but I just got my Desk Top back from the Shop with a new hard drive So I have to reconfigure a lot of stuff ...

Now I want to tell everyone That if you want to meet a true down to earth Fisherman who knows his game in trolling for Crappie ... Mervin W. Johnson Jr. is your man ...

You learn a lot when two people are confined in a small place like a bass boat for 6 hours . I learned that Merv is respectful to other people as well as courteous. But with that said I wouldn't want to see his bad side .. And Merv loves his family ...

AND MERV LOVES TO FISH !!! and he is gooooood at it !! Thank You Merv for a very very memorable Morning ... <'TK><

I have a friend that crappie fishes every day of the year and normally they bring in a double limit every day without fail. He is the crappie King. Yesterday was his worst day in many years and only caught 10 keepers between the two people. This front really shut them down from the sounds of it. Hoping they are hungry tomorrow

Sounds like a great day on the water. Even though the fishing wasn't hot, I'm sure the company was good. By the way it sounds you did better than most.
