Default Sluice gate on the Caney

The sluice gate is open on the Caney. Don't know when it will be closed...so much for wading...LOL. Caney Fork Outdoors facebook page says oxygen levels are low.

Usually they list it in print (alternate color) on the TVA site.

For me 85 miles one way, that is a big difference as to whether it is or isn't really running.

Great time to fish the pond area from the yak and hang around that sluice if it's only spilling 250!

Oh no way would I get near the sluice spilling THAT much. I thought it was only releasing 250. I must have read it wrong.

I checked the FB Alpha, it said on "with" a generator to help with low oxygen levels.

That may be why there is nothing on the TVA site about it. Because there is already caution needed for generation since they are running it during generation. They only list is in print on the top of that page when they open the gate up by itself. Looks like when there is generation the gate is open and when there is not it's not.

Didn't want any confusion...

Yep, 1750 during generation and 250 when they are off. Going tonight in the yak, I will report my catches.

I have tentative but very likely plans to fish the Caney Friday night (8/23) until the bit stops and early Saturday (8/24) until about noon then heading home. I'll be in the yak. If there is generation I'll be fishing the pond and the boils. If not, I'll be floating the Betty's Island area. If anyone wants to join, let me know.

Default Aug 16th Generation

I see that the generation schedule for Aug 16th has 0 generators running after 11 a.m.

Would this make it safe to float from the dam to Happy Hollow? I have the day off tomorrow and would love to give my awful fly fishing skills a whirl.

Should be a good float.
