Need some advice on fishing below dam at Center Hill

Yesterday afternoon I decided to drive up to Center Hill Dam and check things out. Certainly a beautiful place. One generator was running and several boats were below the dam and also boats were down river.

I fished from the bank on the side with the shallow boat ramp (not the campground side). Tried a couple of crank baits but ended up using my 2 pound fluorocarbon setup with the TMs. I waded out about butt deep in the water and then made casts further out. I caught two White Bass (they could have been small rockfish), one brown trout, a largemouth, two crappie, and a bunch of blue gill (some really large ones).

I plan on taking a 15 foot flat bottom aluminum boat with a 25 HP motor on the next trip. Would certainly appreciate any pointers on fishing this area. The dam is about 31 miles from my house so it is certainly convenient.

I've had some really good times fishing below that dam with Kastmaster spoons (1/4 ounce). From the steps I'd cast them about 45 degrees into the generation as far as I can (from about 3/4 of the way down the steps) and let it drift. Fishing trout pattern cranks and rattlin rouges during generation are great for larger trout as well. This time of year with a constant generation the rockfish are bound to be hanging around the dam so throwing large swimbaits into the boils could surprise you.
