OH crappie
Got out from 2 till 6 Sunday afternoon to try and find some slabs. Note book was not much help because I don't have any notes for July with the water temp in the upper 70's. Last year water was 15 to 20 degrees warmer. So I went to patterns that were productive in the current temp. ranges and had an awsome afternoon. I shot docks in 6 to 8 feet of water, used 1/16 oz glow green head with curly tail in blue/grey body with chart tail (Weiss lake killer). caught around 60 - 80 fish with 20 nice keepers (having a fish fry this weekend), most were 11 to 12 range with 1- 14" bruiser. The balance were the 9 1/2 to 9 3/4 range, looks like we are going to have a good spring. Most hits were on the fall or as soon as the jig hit the water, the 4# high vis line was just like a bobber, watched for the tell tail twitch, then it was on. Don't waste to much time at a dock, if I didn't get a hit within four shoots I moved on, docks with pontoons were the hot ticket.Tried fishing some lay downs in the same depth range but crappie were not there, did catch some feisty gill and a couple bass though.
To all happy fishing,
Ray
