Default Help I.D. young fish

Can anyone give some insight into identifying this fish? Caught it in a local creek. Very thin lateral line. The jaw did not seem to extend past the eye, may have been right at it though. I've caught largemouth in this creek and they all seemed to have a much more distinct band. Sorry if its a silly question and thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks, thats what I was thinking as well but I wasnt sure because of the color. I was guessing it was lacking the darkness and vertical bars because of age and the environment. I caught a few redeye around the same stump as him throwing a fat 4" grub with a split shot 6" up from it.
I just snapped a pic real quick out of curiosity and went back to fishing since it was getting dark and they were still biting.

The fun thing about creeks, is they're filled with Smallies like this with the occasional hawg that will surprise you!

That's what i'm hoping. I've caught several LM and a ton of Redeye in it. Also bream, warmouth and catfish. Parts of it are fished pretty heavily and trashed. I pretty much learned that if I dont get wet or muddy to get to a spot there wont be many fish but I suppose the work makes it more rewarding!
