Headed to Marrowbone in the morning...
Should be a beautiful saturday morning for the canoe.
Going to get there when they open, start really shallow and hopefully the topwater bite will be there. Then i will go deeper as it warms up. I plan on fishing til lunchtime or so.
If anyone wants to meet up let me know. I have been there a couple times and know a bit about it.

i fished from about 6:30 til about 10am saturday morning, and got skunked.
i paddled up into the shallows of a far cove first and threw my frog into the deepest cover and grass i could find, which is a pattern that has paid off for me in the past. Not a bite.
I threw a shaky head and a wacky senko at steeper banks, no luck.
i pulled deep cranks through the channel and over the ends of points, no luck.
it was a beautiful morning, but i got skunked.
I did however see a man in a little riverhawk, catch a trout while trolling. In mid july....

Every time i've been there I was catfishing. Same results all over the lake getting skunked. Except for turtles, there are huge turtles in here! I havent tried fishing bass there yet.

I honestly couldnt tell you. It is a decent size lake but I have no idea what they do as far as stocking/how many fish. I've always heard rumor of the lake managers feeding the fish but that's probably just small town talk. They were locking the gates at 8pm last time I was there and opening at sunrise so my guess would be the older fish have adjusted and feed mainly at night.

The last time i was there was memorial day, and i caught 5 fish and lost 3 in about the same amount of time on frogs and wacky senkos.
It may be the heat.
There is a pretty ridiculous amount of boats there though.
i know its heavily pressured.

Some may hold over. I don't know for sure that they do and its a crap shoot as to who to talk to about it or whether you believe them. But the lake has plenty of depth and natural springs to keep trout over summer into fall. It should also have enough chironomids (which look like mosquito's but don't bite) to give them a good food base.
I'd say they do...it's just either tight lipped or no one knows/cares.
