Default VFW Evening Bite

Started fishing VFW about 4:00 PM. There were some Amish leaving as I put in. I took a pic of their boat on a trailer hooked behind their buggy. Their horses were tethered in the woods. There are 4 guys hiding behind the trees...I asked could I take a pic....and they said fine but let them hide first. Not everyday you see a horse and buggy pulling a boat. I caught about 50...8 inch Bull Gills....really dark. The fish were scattered and I had to paddle all around to get them. It is starting to get mossy down there. Should have found fish schooled up.....and some 9 inch fish and Shell Crackers also.....but did not. After the Amish left had the lake to myself. It is really pretty there but it is time for me to hit the Caney and Center Hill. According to my records it was this time last year I was on the Caney.

Regards

Spawning colors......5 days before and after the full moon on 23rd....but yet I couldn't find them on the spawning areas I know about there....and I know most of them. While it was a nice day the lake is just not producing as it has in the past years. Could just be an off year....over-harvesting....many things. I will hit it again but next week time to try some place else.

Regards

Nice! At least you didn't have a whole bunch of little ones! I am going to the caney and renting a canoe Wednesday, is there anywhere to get bison trout magnets around there?

I'm pretty sure the tackle shop in the back of Big Rock market or whatever it's called has trout magnets. May want to call ahead and make sure though.

Great color to that gill Alpha. I've seen pictures of Amish buggies with kayaks, and jon boats, but have never seen it in person. Do Amish have to have fishing license's, and do they have to follow rules and regs?

Good colors on those gills. That looks like a nice lake, especially if you had it all to yourself. I guess no Tritons or Rangers for the Amish, eh?
