Default Striper question.....

I am headed down there to fish the cumberland and caney river next weekend and have a question. If the rivers are too high and muddy to troll skippies around, where in the lake would a guy troll this time of year?

David, yes ...Skippies on planner boards was pretty much all I used until I went to Trout as bait ... Now you can use threadfin or Gizzard shade, they and trout will keep in a livewell ... Skippies is another subject ... They don't live long in captivity ... I have spent Hundreds of $$$ on O2, special tanks and flow systems ... The best I could do was 4 to 5 hours ...

Skippies put off a toxic oil that is detrimental to themselves ... Hope this helps <'TK><

Hey tk I'm headed to the caney this weekend to do some striper fishing. I don't know much about striper but planned on using live bait. I just read that trout and gizzard shad are good live bait. Do you have to catch the bait with throw net or is there somewhere you can buy shad? Any other striper advice you can give me would be much appreciated!! Thanks
