Default S.982 ... Rick Duty

For you guys in Kentucky, the note below was sent to Congressman Jim Cooper’s Legislative Assistant. Zack has been very good about keeping up with the bill(s), and relaying information back to us hicks. Cooper is a Democrat who spoke of the common sense issues of FTF on the House floor on Tuesday.

Zack,

Again, thank the boss for his support and floor commentary regarding the Freedom to Fish Act. His support of a Republican sponsored bill reflects the President’s own congressional history, of crossing the aisle when practicality and common sense prevails.

The bipartisan unanimity that led to passage, carries some political capital for all concerned. The people spoke – loudly – and the legislature responded magnificently. I’m sure Coop’s recommendation to the President to not only sign the bill, but to comment on the level of cooperation in both houses, would carry some weight. Why wait for the Freedom to Fish Act to become law, when both parties can take credit for one of those moments when they acted in unison to do what was right?
