Default So I was at my monthly pot luck... ( LUNKER content )

and I struck up a conversation w/ a new couple that had come for the 1st time. Nice folks - who had been fishing together since they started dating

turns out she hold the #2 state record for Largemouth ( and her's would be a state record if there was a "women's division" )

caught in a pond in West TN.. This lunker weighed 13.8 lbs !!

( apparent Bass Pro had a replica of it - but it was destroyed in the 2010 flood )

they have the actual fish mounted in their home

That's an awesome bass! Must have been one heck of a commotion landing it. Colored up pretty also.

I seriously doubt it with 2# test line. Most think I don't bass fish but I do. That is all I fished for for a long time. Of all the fish I have hooked and caught on 2# test large mouth in the two pound range and up are hard to get in.....all other fish being of equal weight. If you have never hooked a decent size large mouth with ultra light rod and line it is hard to explain. It is like they have so much torque for pulling. No they don't fight like a Smallie but they are not that big a deal to land on UL gear as large mouth are. In the fall when I really target large mouth I still fish light...but it is with a 6# test fluorocarbon line. I don't even attempt to go after them with the UL gear.

I believe he said she caught this in lilly pad w/ a frog ( and probably braid )

that fish probably couldn't have been landed on 2# - although Alpha has WAY more experience than me

however - 2 weeks ago I landed a 5 lb catfish that hit a purple TM. It was CRAZY hard to get that thing outta the water !!

I catch more Cats on a TM than I would like. I would certainly not set out to fish for Cats with it but they seem to like it. Good job getting that in.
