Default New to forum/looking for bank fishing in area

Hey guys,
I just found & joined this forum (great job TK, it's an awesome site!). I'm getting back into fishing after a several year hiatus. Used to wade the Caney several years ago but wife, job, etc.... Took my first trip back to the Caney a couple weeks ago with my 10 year old son to see if I could remember my old spots. Generators had been running a while so did a little bank fishing and didn't catch much, but my son did catch his first trout...a small brown. Used to fly fish a little, but sticking to the ultralight now.
Two questions:
1) planning to make trips to the Caney with my son on a regular basis. Generally head towards hwy 141 below the dam. Any other tips on good areas would be appreciated.
2) I live in Brentwood around the intersection of Concord & Nolensville Road. Since it takes a little over an hour to get to the Caney, looking for a couple of good spots really close where my son & I can grab a quick hour or so of fishing, bank or wading. Doesn't have to be trout, just something with gills.
Bonus question:
Taking my son on a weekend trip to Lobo Landing on the Little Red in Arky next month. Any tips there would be appreciated too.
Thanks! Looking forward to making new friends on the site!

That whole river is great fishing but right now they are running 2 or more generators constantly so it's going to be a while before you get some wading opportunities. Fishing below the dam with spoons or live bait will usually produce. As for wading areas, there are pulloffs on Lancaster Hwy, there's the famous Happy Hollow area but it gets crowded. I like Bettys Island more. The rest area off I-40 has plenty of wading as well. I have yet to fish there but I hear it's a good spot.

As far as the area you're living in, I'll be living in Brentwood too in a few weeks and I've already been researching areas to fish especially with the kayak I'm buying. If you head out toward Antioch there is a nice creek flowing there which shall remain nameless to not make anyone mad on here, but I've read up on it and apparently it's a fantastic creek to fish. Good wading if you want. Just don't stay around Antioch as it gets dark haha, dangerous area. Also, the Harpeth River isn't too far West of you which does have trout. Never fished there but I believe there are largemouth and smallmouth bass in there too as well as your assorted panfish species.
