Default White bass poaching trial set

" Copied from Doug's FB page "

White Bass Poaching Trial Set For May 29
I do not know what happened yet this morning in Cheatham County General Sessions Court, but got a short text from TWRA Officer Brad Bagwell and set a trial date had been set for May 29th in the case agains the anglers who kept 360 white bass over the limit. I'll let you know more as I find out. I don't know if all four anglers pleaded not guilty, or what.

Just got a call from Officer Brad Bagwell. All four men will be i court on May 29th. They could ask for a trial that day, or they could settle out. I will let you know.

I'm not sure there would have been a probable cause hearing today. I could be mistaken, but I don't think they are facing a felony charge, and if not, there's no reason for a bindover. Besides, if it got bound over, I don't think they would be looking at a trial date so soon.

Most likely, they appeared in General Sessions today on some sort of assignment docket (depending on what county they're in - I can't recall), they entered a not guilty plea, and the judge set them a date to come back for trial. If I were a betting man, I'd wager that we will see some sort of plea bargain entered on that date.

My neighbor knew exactly who these guys were. Apparently these guys are out there everyday poaching and selling the fish to "international" grocery stores. I hope these guys are not let off the hook.

Doesnt have to be a Felony to have a Probable Cause hearing.....I have only dealt with Cheatam County courts a few times, but they usually work the same as Davidson County (I deal with DC quite a bit in my Job).....more than likely they were assigned a Public Defender and had a Preliminary Hearing ( or Probable Cause) and will either have a Trial or a Plea Agreement on May 29th......This is just from my experience....

Care to make a bet on whether there was a preliminary hearing or whether they just assigned a trial date?

Probably that's the "stripped bass" I see in International markets...yeah, "stripped bass" in international markets, not 'striped bass'.
